The screen play for the film "A star is born" was written by Dorothy Parker, Alan Campbell and Robert Carson. The 1937 film was based on a story by William A. Wellman. The film starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March and was directed by Wellman. The mimeographed typescript consists of the shooting sequence (1 v.) dated April 27, 1937 and a typescript of the dialogue (1 v.) dated April 6, 1937. The latter is stamped, "Censorship copy do not use." The volumes carry the designation "American version."
